Installation Location & Recommended SPD Types

Install a DC SPD between the PV module and the inverter.

Install an AC SPD between the AC output of the inverter and the main distribution cabinet.

Install an SPD in the main distribution cabinet as a central protection point for the distribution system.

Install an SPD in the grounding system to ensure that surge currents are effectively directed to the ground.

Install an SPD at the input and output of the data communication line to protect data and monitoring equipment.

DC SPD: Select an SPD suitable for the voltage level of the PV system, such as an SPD suitable for 600V, 1000V or 1500V DC systems.

AC SPD: Select an SPD suitable for household voltage levels (such as 230V or 400V), usually Type 2 or Type 3 SPD, for medium and low energy surge protection.
